Welcome to NSEMM! Whether you’re learning music, drama, or another subject, this guide will help you get the most out of your tutoring sessions.
Your First Login
Your parent or guardian will have set up an account for you. To log in, visit learn.nsemm.org.uk and enter your email address. We’ll send you a magic link – click it in your email and you’ll be logged in automatically. No password to remember!
Your Dashboard
Once you’re in, you’ll see your personal dashboard. This shows your upcoming lessons at the top, so you always know what’s coming next. You can also see your recent lesson feedback, any homework your tutor has set, and resources your tutor has shared with you.
Preparing for Your Lesson
Before each lesson, make sure you’re in a quiet space where you can focus. If it’s an online lesson, test your camera and microphone beforehand – you can do this in your computer’s settings. Have your instrument ready if it’s a music lesson, or any scripts or materials if it’s drama.
It helps to have a glass of water nearby and make sure your device is charged or plugged in. Let others in your home know you have a lesson so you won’t be interrupted.
Joining Your Online Lesson
About 15 minutes before your lesson, a “Join Lesson” button will appear on your dashboard. Click it when you’re ready. You’ll enter a virtual classroom called Lessonspace, where you can see and hear your tutor, share your screen, and use an interactive whiteboard together.
During Your Lesson
Don’t be afraid to ask questions – your tutor wants to help you learn! If you don’t understand something, say so. If you’re struggling, let your tutor know. And if something isn’t working technically, like you can’t hear properly, tell your tutor straight away.
After Your Lesson
Your tutor will write feedback after each lesson, which you and your parents can see. They might also set homework or suggest things to practise before next time. Try to do a little bit of practice each day rather than leaving it all until just before your next lesson.
