Helping ambition meet opportunity

Learning Outreach Network

Learning Outreach Network

Our volunteer-led, in-person community tutoring programme, bringing free academic support to young people in libraries and community spaces across Nottingham. Built around the belief that where you grow up should never limit how far you go.

The Learning Outreach Network is currently on hiatus

We are actively seeking new funding to restart in-person community sessions. Register your interest below and we will be in touch as soon as the programme returns.

About the programme

Free, in-person tutoring in your community

The Learning Outreach Network ran free, volunteer-led, one-to-one and small-group tutoring sessions in community spaces — libraries, community centres and other trusted local venues — making academic support genuinely accessible to young people in the heart of their neighbourhoods.

In your community

Sessions in familiar, local spaces

Sessions ran in libraries, community centres and other trusted local venues across Nottingham, so families never had to travel far or navigate unfamiliar environments.

Volunteer-led

Delivered by trained university volunteers

Tutoring was delivered by trained, DBS-checked university student volunteers who gave their time to support younger learners in their city — a direct expression of NSEMM’s student-led model.

Free to take part

No cost, no barriers

Every session was completely free. There were no application forms, no means tests and no waiting lists — just high-quality academic support, open to any young person who needed it.

Funded in partnership

The Learning Outreach Network was made possible through the University of Nottingham’s Cascade fund and delivered in partnership with Nottingham City Council. We are grateful to both organisations for their belief in the programme and for making community-based education a reality for young people across Nottingham.
