Sometimes a tutor-student match doesn’t work out, and that’s okay. Here’s how to switch to someone new.
Reasons to Switch
There are many valid reasons to consider switching tutors:
- Teaching style doesn’t suit your learning preferences
- Scheduling no longer works for both parties
- You want to try a different approach or specialism
- Personality differences affecting lessons
- You’ve outgrown what your current tutor can offer
- You simply want a change
You don’t need to justify your reasons to us. If you want to switch, we’ll help make it happen.
How to Request a Switch
Contact our support team and let us know you’d like to change tutors. You can do this through the support portal or by emailing [email protected].
We’ll ask a few questions to help us find a better match:
- What subjects or skills are you focusing on?
- What teaching style works best for you?
- Any scheduling requirements?
- Any specific qualities you’re looking for?
Finding Your New Tutor
Based on your preferences, we’ll suggest alternative tutors. You can review their profiles, read about their experience and approach, and choose someone who seems like a good fit.
If you’re not sure, you can book a trial lesson with a new tutor before committing. This lets you experience their teaching style firsthand.
The Transition
We’ll handle the logistics of ending lessons with your current tutor. You don’t need to have any awkward conversations – we take care of informing them professionally.
Your lesson history and feedback are preserved, so your new tutor can review what you’ve been working on and continue your progress without starting from scratch.
If Things Don’t Improve
If you’ve switched tutors but are still not happy with your lessons, please let us know. We want every student to have a positive experience, and we’ll work with you to figure out what’s going wrong and how to fix it.
Sometimes issues aren’t about the tutor at all – they might be about lesson timing, technical setup, or other factors we can help address.
No Judgement
Please don’t feel awkward about asking to switch. Tutors understand that not every match is perfect, and they’d rather you find someone who works well for you than struggle on unhappily.
Finding the right tutor can make an enormous difference to your progress and enjoyment. It’s worth taking the time to get it right.
